Job overview
The post holder will be based in the Community Neuro Rehabilitation Service (CNRS) in Stockport, an integrated service for people who have experienced a stroke or who have a neurological condition. The post holder will support Clinical Psychologist colleagues in providing a high quality specialist psychology and neuropsychology service, working closely with multi-disciplinary colleagues. The post holder will be assisting with psychological assessment and interventions under the supervision of a qualified psychologist, including neuropsychological assessment, and assisting with relevant projects within the service. Supervision and CPD time will be provided.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder will be involved in providing a high standard of care within our Community Neuro Rehabilitation Service.
- Assisting in the delivery of neuropsychological assessment and formulation.
- To closely work with the Therapists / Team to implement psychological intervention plans, delivering quality rehabilitation to neurological and stroke patients in the community setting.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative person to join our community neuro rehabilitation team which is a multidisciplinary community health service. We are an innovative team who are focused on working with people who have a range of neurological presentations, including stroke, life limiting conditions, head injuries, and functional neurological disorders. The service is based in Stockport and has excellent links with local clinical psychology training courses (Lancaster, Liverpool and Manchester).
The post-holder will receive regular supervision from a qualified Clinical Psychologist.
An upper second-class degree or above in Psychology and eligibility for graduate BPS membership is essential as well as a full driving licence and assess to a car.
This post offers the opportunity for joint work with a multidisciplinary team for adults with neurological difficulties. This will include opportunities/requirements to deliver a range of assessments and interventions under the supervision of a qualified Psychologist for adults with neurological difficulties.
Main Duties of the Job:
Under supervision from a qualified Psychologist to assist in the professional and psychological care of clients within the service across all sectors of care by providing basic aspects of psychological assessment and psychological interventions.
To assist in the development, design and implementation of programme and project work. To assist in the administration and interpretation of outcome related measures, collation and recording of statistics and production of relevant reports.
All clinical work and actions to take place under the management and supervision of qualified psychology staff according to an agreed plan and associated goals.
Formal supervision with a named member of qualified psychology staff to take place on a weekly basis to facilitate work with additional frequent opportunities for informal contact with qualified psychology staff for guidance and advice

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • An upper second class honours degree or higher in psychology
- • Entitlement to graduate basis for registration (GBR) with the British Psychological Society.
Desirable criteria
- • Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis.

- • Occupational Health Clearance.
- • Car owner/driver, to have access to a car for work purposes.
Knowledge

- • An understanding of psychology applied to health care
- • Knowledge of the consequences of brain injury, stroke, and other neurological conditions.

- • Experience of working with people with mental health problems and/or other relevant health disabilities
- • Experience of working independently and liaising with other healthcare workers
Desirable criteria
- • Experience of working with patients in a Stroke/ Neurorehabilitation setting and/or within a psychological services setting
- • Experience of using neuropsychological assessments
Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria
- • High level communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate and work in settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive
- • Ability to communicate sensitive information to patients, carers and colleagues in an appropriate way
- • Ability to produce reports under supervision to a high standard
- • An ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a mental health and/or neuropsychology service context
