Ambulance Booking Clerk 27 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an extremely busy site coordination team at Stepping Hill Hospital.  The team is a multidisciplinary team comprising of Clinical Site Coordinators and Patient Flow Coordinators and an important member of this team is the Ambulance Booking Clerk.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Ambulance Booking Clerk is to coordinate the booking of transport to support the discharge of patients from hospital. In addition, ensuring priorities for discharges are identified which means working with our wards and transport providers. You will need good communication and listening skills and be able to remain calm under pressure, as this role can be demanding at busy times during the day. You will need to be able to work independently and as part of a team. The post will be incorporated into the rota working opposite days or alongside two ambulance booking clerks already in post. Relevant training and support will be provided.

If successful this vacancy will require a standard DBS check at the cost of £21.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary. In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the  DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of continuing development
  • ECDL or equivalent IT and keyboard skills
  • Good general education ( 5 GCSE's or Equivalent, including English and Maths) or equivalent experience

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Computer literate - knowledge of Microsoft Office / Excel
  • Knowledge of NHS procedures and systems in relation to booking transport
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of hospital IT systems
  • Knowledge of services provided by Stockport NHS Foundation Trust
  • Understanding of Government guidance in relation to general patient transport and guidance in relation to Covid

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines, setting priorities and dealing with a varied workload
  • Ability to work on own initiative and make independent decisions
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working within the NHS or other Healthcare setting
