Opportunities have arisen for the position of a PTS Dispatcher / Planner within the North West Ambulance Patient Transport Service based in their PTS Control Room’s in Preston, Liverpool and Oldham. 

We are looking for dynamic individuals who work well within a team, have excellent listening, communication, and customer service skills, and thrive in a fast moving and at times, challenging environment. You must be able to demonstrate an understanding and empathetic nature to deliver the high standard of patient care expected from NWAS.

You must be able to work to performance targets and be productive whilst always remaining consistent and professional. Change and innovation is a big part of PTS and it is essential that you can adapt to change and embrace development and opportunities.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will be responsible for allocating and planning patient journeys in a non-emergency situation, but within the guidelines of the PTS contract. Due to the fast paced nature of this role you will be expected to be able to integrate into an established, fast, dynamic team, whilst also being able to work unsupervised after training. It is essential that the candidate is I.T. literate, has excellent communication skills, can think logically as well as imaginatively, are a good problem solver and can work well under pressure.

The relevant training will be offered to the successful candidates.

Working for our organisation

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.
We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
