Job overview

The Paediatric Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) in the Emergency Department will play a critical role in providing expert clinical care to children and young people presenting with urgent and emergency conditions. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the ACP will deliver high-quality, evidence-based care, offering advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients within the Paediatric ED.

The role also involves leadership, education, and service development 
responsibilities, with a focus on improving patient outcomes, enhancing team capability, and ensuring that clinical practices meet the latest standards and guidelines. The post-holder will work autonomously and collaboratively with consultants, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide a safe, efficient, and child-centred service.

The Paediatric Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) in Emergency Medicine plays a vital role in delivering high-quality care to paediatric patients in urgent and emergency settings. Below are the main duties typically performed by a Paediatric ACP in Emergency Medicine:

 

The Paediatric ACP in Emergency Medicine is integral to delivering high-quality, timely, and efficient care to children presenting with a wide range of acute and critical conditions. Their ability to assess, diagnose, treat, and stabilise patients independently, combined with their role in collaborating with the MDT, ensures that paediatric emergency departments function effectively, providing expert care to some of the most vulnerable patients.
