This is a unique job which offers the experience of managing patients with cardiogenic shock, end staged chronic heart failure, heart transplantation and ventricular assist devices.
Main duties of the job
To provide clinical assistance to the current team, with the main focus on supporting the heart program under the supervision of Dr Steve Shaw, Dr Jacqueline Hooper and Dr Paul Callan
You will attend the heart failure clinic with supervision of cardiopulmonary exercise tests, the transplant outpatient clinic, VAD outpatient clinic, and the catheter lab for invasive haemodynamic assessments.
ou will be required to help with inpatient management on the wards through dedicated ward rounds, performing inpatient transthoracic echos, central line insertions, coordinating the admission of assessment patients – both acutely unwell HF patients and chronic stable HF patients.
During on calls you will be responsible for dealing with inpatients on the transplant ward and this will include lung transplant patients as we run a cross cover service out of hours.

Attainments
Essential criteria
- GMC Registration
- Membership to Royal College of Physician's
- General medical training, with exposure to Cardiology
- Independent central line insertion
- Able to with and communicate with a multidisciplinary team
Desirable criteria
- Experience in echocardiography
- Experience in cardiac catheterisation
