Job overview

You will be required to provide a service for the receipt and distribution of surgical instruments within a clinical environment based at Trafford Hospital covering a range of shifts/hours between 0700 - 2000 . You will be required to liaise with clinical and non-clinical staff and other service providers in order to provide a service which will impact on patient care throughout the Trust. You may be required to work across sites within WTWA (Wythenshawe, Withington, Altrincham).

The role may provide the opportunity for additional/extra shifts/weekend work/earlier starts, later finishes for waiting list reduction.

The role will require general flexibility overall.

Main duties of the job

•    Organisation of the sources required for the collection, receipt and distribution of reusable medical devices for the use in theatres and all satellite areas within Wythenshawe/Trafford Hospital.

•    Assist professionally qualified staff in the delivery of all aspects of patient focused care safely and in a timely manner.

•    Ability to manage workload with flexible work patterns to demands of the service.

•    Provides appropriate administrative support as required to help ensure the efficient an effective running of the service.

•    Ensures timely distribution of delivered stock to all areas across the hospital to maintain the service on a daily basis. Utilising digital and paper based stock management systems.

•    Stock takes and stock audits, utilising digital and paper based stock management systems.

•    To assist in the teaching of new sterile services assistants and any other staff members ensure the quality of service is maintained to the agreed, directed high standards.

This role requires physical effort, spending time on your feet, walking and handling/pushing heavy loads.
