Specialist Staff Nurse – Bladder and Bowel

Band 5

We are currently seeking a dynamic and creative nurse with a special interest in Continence, Bladder and Bowel nursing to join our friendly community Bladder and Bowel team to manage a designated caseload of patients which includes Bladder & Bowel Annual Reassessment Clinics, Residential Care and supported care living patients and individual home visits across the South Manchester community.

The candidate will be an autonomous skilled practitioner who will be implementing treatment based on expert clinical practice for people with continence issues and assist other health care professionals providing care in a range of settings. You will need to be confident in delivering education to patients, families, care staff & other professionals and ideally have experience of continence, urology and colorectal nursing.

You must hold a current UK driving license and have full-time access to licenced road safe vehicle to be able to work flexibly and travel across the  South Manchester locality.

The candidate will provide specialist clinical advice, support, assessment and interpretation of information to deliver best practice bladder and bowel care, treatment, and management in line with Trust Policies and Procedures, National Guidelines, NICE and NMC Code of Conduct.

The candidate will provide high quality best practice specialist bladder and bowel care, to support and give advice to patients with persistent continence problems and develop specialist care packages, working with patients, families, and carers.

The candidate will promote effective management and treatment of bladder and bowel dysfunction by providing an educational and advisory service for adult patients and others caring for patients with continence problems including, the elderly, reasonable adjustments e.g., learning difficulties, mental health problems and long-term degenerative conditions.

You will work within and across professional and organisational boundaries, liaising with GPs, other healthcare professionals, statutory and voluntary agencies to support the delivery of integrated, individualised, and expert bladder and bowel care to a high standard.

The candidate will aim to prevent hospital admissions and facilitate safe early discharge from hospital, supporting a culture of continuous high quality improvement.
