Job overview

Within a multi-disciplinary environment, assist in the delivery of a comprehensive programme of secondary/primary prevention of cardiovascular disease and other cardiac diagnoses. The programme will be delivered within the Wirral Community Cardiology Service across the St Catherine’s Health Centre, Victoria Central Health Centre and West Kirby Health and Wellbeing Centre sites.

Qualifications and professional training

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of NVQ Level 3/Diploma or above in an exercise physiology related subject
  • BACPR Specialist Exercise Instructor Level 4 Cardiac Qualification or willingness to work toward and complete as soon as possible
Desirable criteria
  • Basic Life Support
  • Evidence of further study in exercise physiology related subject

Experience and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Recent experience of working within cardiovascular rehabilitation and clinical knowledge of associated treatments, interventions and outcomes
  • Recent experience and knowledge of leading structured and graded exercise sessions including high risk cardiovascular patients
  • Experience of leading/developing relevant programmes of lifestyle intervention for high-risk clinical groups
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of leading group patient education sessions
  • Up to date knowledge of national and local strategies to reduce CVD

Skils and attributes

Essential criteria
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team and to work to direction.
  • Proven ability to work on own initiative
  • Computer literate
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to assess clinical information and structure patient care accordingly
