We provide specialist services in cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, respiratory medicine including adult cystic fibrosis and diagnostic imaging, both in the hospital and out in the community.

We serve a catchment area of 2.8 million people, spanning Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales and the Isle of Man, and increasingly we receive referrals from outside these areas for highly specialised services such as aortics.

We are a large team of domestics covering 3 shifts , days evenings and nights.

Main duties of the job

Duties include cleaning patient clinical areas to the national cleaning standards, office areas , departments, public areas, corridors , Theatres, Cath labs, intensive care units. Serving  patient beverages 

Cleaning stairs, lifts touch points 

Using equipment such as buffers, mops hoovers, steam cleaners, decontamination systems

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Clean all areas to the national standard of cleanliness using equipment provide to carry out hovering, buffing, scrubbing of, mopping, high and low level dusting

 

  • Take down and hang curtains on windows and bed cubicles and ensure curtains bagged correctly for laundering

 

  • Cleaning windows in wards, departments, theatres and corridors

 

  • Toilet, bathroom, shower cleaning

 

  • Deep cleaning to Trust infection control cleaning policy
    • Responsible for ensuring colour coded cleaning system carried out and mop heads bagged correctly for laundering in line with domestic departmental procedures

     

    • Liaise with nursing and departmental staff concerning cleaning duties, to ensure information is shared to promote a clean environment

     

    • Inform Supervisors/line manager of equipment failures/faults of any equipment used to perform duties

     

    • Responsible for cleaning domestic equipment used within the location and ensure secured safely after use, in line with Health & Safety and Housekeeping procedures

 

Person specification

Qualifications & Education

Essential criteria
  • 1 year experience working within a cleaning or catering service or retail with cleaning duties

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of cleaning Procedures, colour coding and COSHH Able to use own initiative on routine cleaning

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Personal effort to undertake all aspects of a cleaning, using scrubbing machines, buffers, hovers, suction, steam equipment, move furniture and hang bed curtains with the wards using ladders
  • Basic IT Computer skills
