Job overview

An exciting opportunity has become available for a full time Ward Clerk on Ward 8D Infectious Diseases at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

The Ward is a 28 bed Infectious Diseases unit with a fast turn over of patients requiring the successful candidate to be extremely organised, committed and hard working.  It is essential that candidates have excellent IT skills and to be able to speak confidently  to patients when dealing with their enquires either face to face or over the phone. The successful candidate will also be responsible using trust patient IT systems including pens/dashboard and IPM  and ensuring patient discharge letters are sent and filed  they have  follow up  appointments for their next treatment arranged if required.  Enhanced organisational skills are required to ensure confidentiality is maintained and case notes, letters and documentation are kept securely. The ideal candidate much be approachable, committed and kind and wish to actively participate in what is a friendly and hard working team as well as directly with the general public.  

Main duties of the job

The main roles are answering the phone, good basic computer skills, ensuring patients appointments have been booked, filing and organising on the clinical area.

The role of the ward clerk  is to answer phone and deal with patient enquires. file notes, ensure documentation is correct ordering  documentation required for the ward.

 Ensuring  the digital boards are correct with consultant information.  Using the IPM system making sure patient has been arrived for their appointment and new appointments given, sending out appointment letters .
