Job overview

Liverpool University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint a LAS SHO to work within the North Mersey Stroke Centre based at Aintree Hospital.

Applications for less than full time working will be considered. We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a LAS SHO.

Our team provide hyper acute stroke care and rehabilitation to approximately 1500 stroke admissions per year. We provide 24/7 thrombolysis and a 7-day rapid assessment service for TIA’s. Telemedicine is used for delivery of thrombolysis out of hours. Thrombectomy is provided at the adjacent Walton Centre and has expanded to 24/7 from October 2021.

Main duties of the job

The role will include, working alongside our consultant, ANP's and junior doctor teams to support inpatient and outpatient care, across the Department for Older People and Stroke (DMOPS) at the Aintree site.

The successful applicant will rotate with other StR's across the care group to have access to all ward areas.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MB ChB (or equivalent)
  • MRCP Part 2 (Written
  • Full registration with the GMC and license to practice (or eligible for)
Desirable criteria
  • MRCP UK PACES

Clinical Experience

Essential criteria
  • IMT/CMT experience
  • Equivalent post foundation training experience in Internal medicine specialties for at least 1 year
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Additional GIM experience
  • Additional Stroke/Neurology/Geriatric medicine related experience

Teaching & training Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of Teaching experience and feedback
Desirable criteria
  • Qualification in Medical education/ Education

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Certified provider of Advanced Life Support (RCUK ALS)
  • To have a good understanding of ‘Good Medical Practice’ from the GMC
Desirable criteria
  • IMPACT course

Audit / QI Experience

  • Experience/participation in audit/QI projects
