Assistant Technical Officer - Pharmacy Radiopharmacy

Band 2

Job overview

We are a small friendly team providing a Radiopharmacy service to several Trusts within the region and work very closely with their nuclear medicine departments. We prepare radioactive medicines used in the diagnosis (scans) and treatment of a wide range of illnesses for patients across the Cheshire and Merseyside region. To do this we use pharmaceutical cleanrooms and special equipment.

We are based in the Royal Liverpool Hospital and will be moving to the brand new facility very soon.  We need to expand our team to help us prepare the new facility whilst we keep the current one going too.

We are now looking for enthusiastic, committed individuals to support us with this move.  You need to have the desire and ability to be trained to carry out technical tasks to a high standard. This will require concentration and carefully following written procedures. Full training will be provided but experience in cleaning and disinfection of clinical areas or pharmacy clean rooms would be advantageous.

**Preferred pattern of work will be discussed at interview**

Main duties of the job

The condition of our clean rooms is vital to our ability to prepare medicines. All materials being transferred into the preparation areas must also be clean in order to achieve the best quality medicines for our patients.

The successful post holders will work alongside senior ATOs and technologists in preparing our facilities and equipment for use each day to manufacture medicines.

The post holders will work as a team to carry out Cleaning and Disinfection of rooms and equipment with specialist materials before and after production each day. During production any materials being transferred into the clean rooms will also be cleaned and disinfected according to strict procedures. Participation in other support duties such as placing orders, stock rotation and waste management will also be possible.

No prior experience is required as full training will be provided and assessment of competence carried out. If you are keen to learn, take pride in your work and enjoy being part of a team focussed on providing patient services to a high standard then we are eager to hear from you.

Working for our organisation

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.

The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

It serves a core population of around 630,000 people across Merseyside as well as providing a range of highly specialist services to a catchment area of more than two million people in the North West region and beyond.
