An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated forward thinking Advanced Clinical Pharmacist to join us at LUHFT on the Royal Liverpool Hospital site working within the Infectious diseases pharmacy team.
You will be involved with managing patients with complex infections, and looking after patients on the infectious diseases wards.
Work will also involve looking after our expanding services in HIV and Axess sexual health which may require visits to our peripheral clinics located across Cheshire and Merseyside.
Main duties of the job
Assist the Clinical Lead Pharmacist in the development of pharmacy services and medicines management within the directorate.
To provide a safe and effective advanced clinical pharmacy service to the directorate.
Support the national agenda for switching patients to new and upcoming HIV medications.
Assist the Lead Pharmacist in providing clinical training and supervision, relevant to the directorate, for other departmental staff.
Provide non-medical prescribing services to our patients and develop and support maintenance of a large portfolio of PGDs for our Axess sexual health clinics.
Identify the clinical and economic impact of medicines use, develop and implement clinical guidelines, monitor drug expenditure and support the area to meet their clinical and financial targets.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Assist the Divisional and Clinical Lead Pharmacists in the development of pharmacy services and medicines management within the directorate.
Support the NHS in its efforts to use cost-effective treatments within your speciality.
To provide a safe and effective advanced clinical pharmacy service to the directorates within the Trust.
Assist in providing clinical training and supervision, relevant to the directorate, for other departmental staff.
Provide non-medical prescribing services to our patients
Identify the clinical and economic impact of medicines use, develop and implement clinical guidelines, monitor drug expenditure and support the area to meet their clinical and financial targets.
Support the national agenda in helping create value within the organisation supporting biosimilar switches.
Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Vocational master’s degree in pharmacy
- Diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent documented clinical experience
- Member of the GPhC
- Non Medical Prescribing (or within 3 months of being on the GPHC Register)
Desirable criteria
- UKCPA membership
- MRPharmS
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience in a relevant specialist pharmacist role
- Antimicrobial Stewardship experience
- Demonstrable commitment to continuing professional development / education
Desirable criteria
- Experience as a NMP
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Advanced generalist knowledge of the clinical areas within the Medical and Surgical Division.
- Knowledge of the law relating to pharmacy and medicines
Desirable criteria
- Expert knowledge of the therapeutics and medicines regarding pain management and VTE
Skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Self-motivating and able to motivate/inspire others
- Ability to affect and manage change

- Computer literate
