Pharmacy (Aseptic Services) Stores Team Leader
Band 4 (37.5 hours per week)
We are a major acute teaching Trust offering a wide range of clinical specialities, including tertiary referrals for HIV and Renal Medicine. Pharmacy services are well developed and deliver high quality Medicines Management.
We have a highly regarded Aseptic Production Unit (APU) at the Trust and we moved into our brand-new Manufacturing Site in 2023 .
You will work closely with our Aseptic Service Leads to help in the provision and maintenance of an effective service with respect to the Aseptics store functions. You will oversee the day to day operations of the Aseptic Unit's stock management system.
The role involves overseeing the team of assistants working within the stores area.
Main duties of the job
Supervising a team and creating weekly rotas.
Overseeing the receipt and supply of orders and medicines.
To provide an effective service with respect to departments stores functions, including investigating and resolving a range of problems.
To co-operate with all pharmacy staff in providing and developing an efficient and comprehensive aseptic pharmaceutical stores service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The core element of this role is to manage the Aseptics stores area. This includes receiving deliveries, stock checks, supply of medicines, overseeing temperature monitoring and investigating and resolving a range of problems.
To supervise and provide training to staff members on their roles, duties and responsibilities within the aseptic orders service, ensuring all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are up to date and followed by all staff.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
- GCSE's or equivalent (C or above) in English and Maths
Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable experience within a store / procurement role
- Experience and understanding of stock management processes and stock takes
Desirable criteria
- Experience in Pharmacy / Pharmacy aseptic services stores and procurement
- Experience of training and development of staff
- Experience of involvement in producing and evaluating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of Trust financial procedures and practices (Pharmacy Stock Management)
- Knowledge of hospital procurement service including ordering and stock control
- Knowledge of audits and risk assessments
- Demonstrates an understanding of Health and Safety policies and standards
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of national and trust wide initiatives regarding pharmaceutical supplies
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) surrounding Pharmaceutical Manufacture
- Knowledge of legislation and documents relating to NHS pharmacy procurement
Skills
Essential criteria
- Numerical accuracy including the ability to complete difficult calculations
- Able to analyse and interpret information, including the ability to identify errors, investigate and resolve problems
- Able to communicate information and ideas to others effectively - both written and verbal form, including other healthcare professionals, pharmaceutical suppliers and if required patients or their representatives
- Good customer service skills and the ability to deal objectively with complaints
- Methodical and accurate working with periods of concentration required, sometimes over a prolonged period, including when using computer software.
- Good organisational skills, able to organise own work and plan work of others
- Able to use software packages inline with systems embedded at the facility
