Clinical Trials Technician - Aseptics

Come and join our friendly pharmacy clinical trials team.
The team provide pharmacy support for the expanding Research and Development work of the trust, with a large portfolio of studies.
We are involved in trials from many clinical specialties and are heavily involved in supporting the NIHR Royal Liverpool Clinical Research Facility in the conduct of first in human studies. .
We work with external trial sponsors such as pharmaceutical companies, universities and local research units to ensure the correct and safe management of clinical trial medication.
You will be involved in the set up and management of upcoming studies with a focus on trials that involve aseptically dispensed investigational medicinal products. You will support the aseptic units across LUHFT sites with the design and production worksheets, labels and other trial specific documents.
You will support the preparation of aseptic investigational medicinal products for trials at the Royal site.
You will also assist in the maintenance of trial drugs, dispensing, labelling and checking of trials, recording drug accountability and temperature monitoring of any areas storing clinical trial medication.
You will also meet with external trial representatives during their monitoring visits to discuss the conduct of the trials at site.
Full training in our in-house procedures and policies will be given.
You must be a qualified Pharmacy Technician registered with the GPhC with experience in aseptics.

You will be based at the Royal Liverpool Hospital site with the pharmacy trials team. You will work one day a week in the Royal Aseptic Unit supporting the aseptic workload.
Trials responsibilities will include
- Dispensing aseptic clinical trial prescriptions
- Writing and checking of individual trial procedures
- Producing aseptic worksheets and labels for trial products
- Receipt and management of storage of investigational medicinal products
- Support Clinical Research Facility when required
- Support cross site if required
- Weekend and late rotas in the main dispensary

- To facilitate the delivery of a safe and effective clinical trials service, with a focus on aseptically prepared products for the trust, in line with the available resources.
- To be responsible for and participate in the delivery and maintenance on a day to day basis, of the dispensing and checking of trials in line with resources and service demands.
- To work closely with the Clinical Trials Pharmacist’s to develop and support clinical trial provision across the Trust.
- To work one day a week in the Aseptic Unit at the Royal.

Qualifications

Experience

- Demonstrable post qualification experience in hospital pharmacy
- 12 months post registration experience in clinical trials
- Experience with a range of clinical trials
