An exciting opportunity has arisen within Liverpool Clinical Laboratories for a motivated individual to take up the role of Specimen reception supervisor, band 5 within the specimen reception team across LCL sites.

 

 As a Specimen reception supervisor the post holder will work as part of a team and alongside Departmental managers in order to supervise the daily running of the Specimen reception based across LCL.

This will include first line management of staff and the day to day running of an exceptionally busy section of the laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for the oversight of receipt and testing of all samples received at LCL specimen receptions and effective running of the department including, but not limited too, supervision of staff to ensure effective workflow, first line HR management and rotas for a 24/7 working environment.  

The successful candidate will ensure that the ongoing training programme is maintained and will be a key member in the implementation team for the ongoing transformational changes identified for specimen receptions across LCL.

Main Purpose
1. To monitor and respond to staffing levels in specimen reception.
2. To have day to day involvement with reporting GP problem samples, including NHS database access to search for unknown patient location.
3. Advise on developments within Specimen Reception
4. To ensure efficient running of JPS specimen collection and delivery service of reports and consumables.
5. Maintain stocks of consumables
6. Place weekly orders with supplies dept. and other depts. to maintain stocks of GP forms, bottles, needles, swabs, media etc.
7. Liase with hospital porters, external couriers, off-site locations, and others to maintain service and to monitor collection points on wards.
8. To monitor and audit delivery times of MCS couriers and ISS porters.
9. Maintain awareness of the users’ requirements.
10. Accept responsibility for training of appropriate personnel
11. Follow all health and safety protocols
12. Maintain patient confidentiality.

Experience
