An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time role as a clinic administrator within our busy Fracture Clinic. Ideally the successful candidate will have previous NHS experience as the role will involve varied administrative duties as part of a small team.
The candidate must have experience working in a busy environment and be capable of prioritising their workload. The candidate will have good communication and organisational skills. They will be confident to work both independently as well as part of a small team.
It is understood that the post holder will be required to participate in a flexible working hours system currently Monday to Friday between the hours of 07.15 and 17.00 but the successful post holder may in the future be required to work over seven days if service requires.
Main duties of the job
• To be an effective member of the Trauma Orthopaedic Department by providing a high standard of clerical services with particular responsibility to the VFC Service.
• To help maintain links and effective communication between Trauma Orthopaedics, the Emergency Department and primary care using administrative systems effectively.
• To act as a resource for patients and other staff, facilitating the timely access to care according to care pathways and protocols.
• To contribute to the training of others and oversee the work of others when required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
• Oversees that all referrals are received, appointed and patients notified ensuring activity is recorded accurately.
• Participates in general office duties such as photocopying, retrieval of case notes, typing, audit, enquiries, entering and retrieval of data onto computer systems, receiving, processing and redirecting mail as appropriate.
• Maintains accurate data collection and storage using computer skills
• Assist and liaise the Trauma Orthopaedic Multidisciplinary team in providing an efficient and effective service to patients who are referred for management of trauma.
• Utilises a high level of telephone communication skills
• Signposts patients to appropriate service
• Liaises with consultants, GPs, other health care professionals and their secretaries regarding patient referrals and appointments.
• In line with Line Manager organise/support Virtual Fracture Clinic when required
• Manage own time and workload contributing to the team when necessary.
• Assists the Trauma Orthopaedic team in developing the service
• Contributes to meetings with other staff as required
• Undertakes appropriate training and development

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- GCE level English/Maths or equivalent
- RSA2 or NVQ2 or equivalent relevant area
- Computer literacy course e.g. ECDL
Desirable criteria
- Supervisory course
- Communication skills training
Experience

- Demonstrable experience as a clerical officer
