Main duties of the job

Consultant in Medical Oncology - Melanoma and Immunotherapy 

An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified individual to join the team at the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre. The successful candidate will specialise  in the treatment of Melanoma  and be part of the well established  Specialist Immunotherapy Toxicity Team.  This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of cancer treatment , contributing to both patient care. 

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre is a specialist Trust delivering treatment to patients across Cheshire and Merseyside and the Isle of Man with both solid tumour and Haemato-Oncology malignancies.

We are looking for an experienced Oncologist who is enthusiastic, flexible, hard-working and a good team player. You must have existing GMC registration to apply for this role.

 

The oncology teams are based in the brand new, state-of-the-art CCC-L building. Some clinic appointments will be undertaken remotely.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Melanoma  team  at CCC has responsibility for oversight of the non-surgical management of relevant solid malignancies. It is a centralised service, covering a wide population across Cheshire, Merseyside and the Isle of Man.  The successful candidate will also specialise in Immunotherapy and be part of the Nationally recognised IO service

Person specification

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full and Specialist registration (including a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview
  • Applicants who are UK trained must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of award of CCT by the date of interview. Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT
  • MRCP
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant certificate of training in communication
  • Higher degree of PhD or MD by postgraduate thesis (or evidence of equivalent research training/experience)

Clinical experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of specialised training in the management of melanoma malignancies
  • Experience managing patients on clinical trials
  • Experience of clinical audit
Desirable criteria
  • Post-CCT experience in management of or melanoma malignancies /or Immunotherapy therapies

Teaching experience

Essential criteria
  • Ability to teach all grades of clinical staff, including those in training
  • Experience of teaching basic clinical skills to undergraduates
  • Experience of supervising medical trainees
