Due to the expansion of the Radiology service at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre an exciting opportunity has arisen for additional Band 7 sonographers to join our Radiology team. You would be based at our Liverpool city centre sites, predominantly at the CDC facility with some cover on occasion at the main hospital site close by. The workload will be varied to include oncology and non-oncology scanning.
The Radiology service is QSI accredited at our Wirral site we are in working toward accreditation at our main Liverpool site.
Main duties of the job
As an autonomous practitioner in a CDC and cancer centre, you will develop and deliver a high quality specialist ultrasound service alongside our radiologists and physicists. You will be able to show evidence of participating in peer-review audit and have an excellent knowledge of current legislation and guidelines. You will ensure sound clinical governance of the service, including audit.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc in Radiography or equivalent
- Post Graduate qualification in Ultrasound
- Degree in Medical Ultrasound or equivalent
- Registration with HCPC
- Registration with the Register of Clinical Technologists (RCT)
Desirable criteria
- Teaching / mentorship qualification
- Member of the Public Voluntary Register of Sonographers (SoR)
Knowledge and Expertise
Essential criteria
- Specialist knowledge of ultrasound scanning and relationship with other Imaging modalities
- Record of Ultrasound-related Continuing Professional Development
- Computer-literate
- Excellent working knowledge of hospital PACS, RIS and EPR systems
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of specialist oncology and interventional ultrasound procedures
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in general and Doppler ultrasound
- Experience in providing final reports
- Experience in using a wide range of ultrasound equipment
- Dealing with anxious/distressed patients
- Experience in problem solving
- Experience in staff training and supervision
- Experience in US governance including audit
Desirable criteria
- Experience in oncology imaging
- Experience of multi professional team working
- Experience in research
