Inventory Management System Lead

NHS AfC: Band 6

Job overview

As part of our Procurement strategy, HPL set a strategic ambition to implement an advanced IMS to enhance stock management, increase product track and traceability and support quality services across the organisation.

In 2023 The Walton Centre applied to be part of the national IMS early adopters’ programme, to roll out an advanced IMS system with their selected provider of choice. The Trust was successful in its application, and we are delighted to be part of the new programme.

Whilst the programme will be overseen by Procurement, the implementation and ongoing operation of the system, is very much a collaborate effort across both clinical and corporate teams.

The candidate will also be required to work closely with NHSSC and our IMS provider, on the successful implementation and embedding of new processes to ensure that maximum benefits can be realised.

If you have a passion for improvement, are a champion for change, have strong interpersonal skills, have experience in project management and can work as part of a team, then we would love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

The Inventory Management System Lead will work in partnership with all stakeholders including external stakeholders and customer base across Health Procurement Liverpool and will be responsible for the implementation and maintaining optimal system performance.

The post holder will manage the internal and external training and refresher training requirements for all users of the trust’s Inventory Management system.

The post holder will be responsible for the ongoing performance monitoring of the agreement the Trust has with the system provider and lead on any necessary actions to follow. Proactively lead the ongoing development of the system.

This position will be the lead role in delivering continuous improvement across the organisation including developing and influencing Health Procurement Liverpool’s supply chain Strategy, providing expert advice and support to all Trusts as part of HPL on inventory management matters and ensuring that all relevant stakeholders are proactively engaged in projects to maximise the value of the service to all organisations where applicable.

As a Procurement team member, the post holder will be required to lead on complex and challenging initiatives relating to supply chain and inventory management, challenging the norm and providing recommendations on service improvement in terms of process and systems across all HPL sites.

The post holder will be required to manage the project with often conflicting deadlines.
