Job overview
The role of the Logistics Supervisor is to supervise all relevant Logistics assistants and support the delivery of Logistics activities across the Trust site; providing an efficient safe and secure goods supply service whilst ensuring agreed service levels are maintained.
The post holder will be a member of the Logistics team and will be required to adopt a flexible attitude and to develop skills to enable them to fulfil the responsibilities set out below;
Main duties of the job
Day to day Supervision of logistics staff, planning daily work schedules.
To provide operational cover when required to Logistics Officers on the Materials Management and Receipt and Distribution Teams.
To work closely with colleagues to ensure rotation/resilient staff coverage across all HPL organization(s) in the event of absences.
To provide operational cover when required to the Supply Chain Manager/Supervisors across all HPL organization(s).
Responsible for stock control, delivery, re-ordering, rotating and replenishment service
To ensure that all paperwork is completed correctly by wards/depts and that all paper-based records are correctly recorded and maintained
To liaise with suppliers regarding delivery commitments/returns.
To provide planning for bank holiday delivery schedules across all HPL organization(s).
Work with departmental clinicians / support staff to ensure the correct equipment, medical consumables and services are available for patient care
To remove/quarantine any items covered by Field Safety Notices or Medical Device alerts (FSN). To accurately record data with regards to areas affected.
To ensure that all deliveries are accounted for and receipted within 24 hours of delivery.
To present the procurement function as a progressive, proactive, responsive and innovative department.
To provide support to the Supply Chain Manager with the use of Trust inventory management and procurement systems across all HPL organization(s).

Essential criteria
- A good standard of general education incl. GCSE Maths and English or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
- Experience working in a busy NHS environment.
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of successfully engaging stakeholders
- Experience in stock management and stores areas.
- Experience in managing teams across different functions and roles
- Experience in successful performance management and reporting on outcomes.
- Demonstrable IT knowledge including Microsoft Office applications used to create reports and to assist in data analysis.
- Understanding of local, regional and national procurement agendas and how this links into operational procurement activity.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of successful collaborative working.
- Understanding of the Green agenda and how supply chain can support this.

Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
