Job overview

We are looking to recruit  a paediatric  community administrator  within the Paediatric team at Southport and Ormskirk District General Hospital working  5 days a week between the hours 9am - 5pm.  Post holder may be required to travel to any of our community sites within West Lancashire.

The post holder will be responsible as the first point of contact for all enquiries to the service, for the registration of patients, booking patient appointments, to ensure all correspondence for the service is typed, and any other administration duties.

Main duties of the job

You should have excellent keyboard skills and experience working within an office setting. Good communication and telephone skills and the ability to work independently are also essential.

Maintain and improve working knowledge of EMIS and  system in relation to electronic patient data. Manage a number of  consultant patient lists operating in accordance with the Trusts Access Policy and in line with national Targets ensuring efficient and effective use of outpatient sessions and interventional sessions.

Communicate with internal and external individuals in a professional manner to ensure information is of the highest quality in accordance with Trust policies. 

Respect colleagues differences with equality and diversity to ensure rights are not infringed. Minimise risk in the use of sensitive information to ensure that the Data Protection Act 1998 is adhered to.

Carry out work as allocated by the Performance Pathway Coordinator & Operational Service Manager. Seek assistance if unsure of any procedure or policy.

  • Educated to GCSE level in English and Mathematics and/or equivalent qualification or experience
  • RSA III typewriting / word processing skills and/or equivalent qualification or equivalent experience
  • ECDL and/or equivalent qualification or experience

  • Shorthand qualification and/or equivalent qualification or experience

Knowledge

  • Comprehensive understanding of a range of administration / secretarial procedures
