Job overview

We are looking to recruit a Band 5 Registered Nurses at 37.5 hours for our Gynaecology outpatients department.

We are looking for a passionate, motivated nurse who has an interest in women’s health.  This exciting opportunity is available to newly qualified or experienced nurse who is looking for a new challenge. Are you a caring and self-motivated nurse who is a strong team player but also has an enthusiasm for working autonomously with excellent communication skills?

The service is currently Monday to Friday, though you will need to be flexible as clinics may change due to demand. You will also be asked to travel to support some of our community clinics.

There will be opportunities for learning and development especially in nurse led clinics. You will be responsible for working with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure smooth running of the clinic, ensuring patients are kept informed of waiting times, prioritising tasks as appropriate, keeping well-coordinated stock levels or equipment and patient information leaflets.  

The ability to deal with challenging situations as well as having empathy and understanding for patients is very important. You must be dedicated to providing the best care, uphold the Trust values, have a proven track record of good performance and be able to demonstrate this at interview.

Experience within women’s health would be an advantage, but is not essential.

Main duties of the job

To ensure that an effective plan of care/care pathway is implemented and maintained for the patient.

That the patient’s plan of care is reviewed, evaluated and update in accordance with the clinical condition and that all documentation is completed to the required standard. To advocate patient involvement so that care can be reflected as individualised.

To assist in the setting and monitoring of standards of nursing care within the ward .

To liaise with all relevant disciplines involved with direct care so that all facets of patient care are assessed, planned, implemented and evaluated.

To maintain safe custody of drugs, ensuring that checking, witnessing and       administration procedures are compatible with statutory and trust requirements.

To encourage the participation of the patient’s carer(s) in the assessment of care needs.

To initiate and participate in the promotion of health education.

To maintain effective communication, keeping the person in charge who has continuing responsibility informed of changes affecting patients & staff.

To abide by the relevant Codes of Professional Practice if applicable and NHS Codes of Conduct.

Essential criteria
  • RGN Registered Nurse NMC
  • Up to date knowledge of professional issues.
Desirable criteria
  • Post registration clinical course appropriate adult nursing

Knowledge and Experience

Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience within gynaecology/women's health field either as a qualified nurse or student nurse
