Job overview

The post holder is responsible for ensuring all data in relation to the clinical stroke pathway is collated from the stroke multi-disciplinary team and entered correctly onto the SSNAP (Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme) web tool.

The post holder should have a knowledge and experience in information systems relating to clinical pathways.  

The post is challenging, the SSNAP data set is complex, with the requirement for concurrent data collection. This post requires strong organisational skills and attention to detail requiring high levels of concentration, for several hours per day, while checking patient details, merging records, and extracting data from the information systems. These tasks require speed and accuracy.

Southport Hospital is part of the North Mersey Integrated Stroke Delivery Network, the post holder will be expected to liaise closely with the SSNAP team at Aintree hospital to ensure the smooth transmission of SSAP records and ensure accurate recording of patients discharged from Aintree hospital with a diagnosis of stroke. 

Main duties of the job

KEY DUTIES

·        To collate and accurately input SSNAP data.

·        Be efficient in the use of hospital clinical systems.

·        To work closely with the stroke MDT, supporting documentation of dt afro purposes of SSNAP reporting.

·        The post holder will work with the Trust SSNAP information team and the SSNAP reporting team at Aintree hospital. .

·        Responsible for data quality aspects of SSNAP.

·        To be responsible for the ongoing development and maintenance of the SSNAP data set as led by the national SSNAP team.

·        To provide data support to the Stroke Department.

·        Conduct:

o   Complete weekly reports regarding stroke patient activity 

o   Pull monthly reports for purposes of validation. 

o   Provide reports for the North Mersey ISDN meetings.

o   Provide reports for departmental meetings and review.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

KEY DUTIES - QUALITY

TEACHING & TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Responsible for providing training in all aspects of the role as necessary to less experienced members of staff.

·       To attend Trust Statutory and Mandatory training sessions as required and any other training courses relevant to the post.

·       The post holder will undertake suitable training and development to maintain the competencies required for their post and will demonstrate competency in order to work autonomously and maintain expertise necessary to the post.

·       The post holder will maintain a full knowledge of all appropriate standard operating procedures and follow these at all times. Will also participate in the regular review and update of SOPs.

Essential criteria
  • Certificate in supervisory management or equivalent experience to NVQ Level 4
  • Computer skills (EDCL)/Diploma in computer sciences or equivalent experience

Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience of utilisation of information systems.
  • Experience and Knowledge of Microsoft office package
  • Experience of working with databases
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of Trust IT systems in particular clinical pathways
  • Demonstrable experience in NHS office work
