You will be working alongside Registered Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants, actively participating in the routine aseptic preparation services of the pharmacy department, under the professional direction of the Aseptic Services Manager. This will involve preparing a wide range of complex aseptic products with a high level of accuracy utilising appropriate techniques whilst working within the Rules and Guidance of the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and departmental SOPs.
You will be based at Southport & Formby DGH however you may be asked to travel/work at other sites within Mersey & West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust as required.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the department's late night, weekend working & Bank Holiday rotas in response to the changing needs of the service. Our core working hours are 8.30 to 4.30pm Monday to Friday plus our weekend service 8.30am to 4.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

Main duties of the job
Actively participate in the routine aseptic preparation services of the pharmacy department under the professional direction of the Aseptic Services Manager.
Co-operate in the provision of a safe and effective pharmaceutical service in order to meet department and corporate objectives.
Maintain safe systems of working and carry out all duties in compliance with Rules and Guidance to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and departmental standard operating procedures (SOPs).
· Undertake duties in support of the Pharmacists and other Technical Staff. Assists in the provision of a safe and effective pharmaceutical service in order to meet department and corporate objectives.
· Correctly undertake tasks that have been delegated.
· Maintain and carry out all duties in compliance with Rules and Guidance to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and departmental SOPs.
· Liaise with the Pharmacy Technicians to ensure that sufficient preparation has been completed for the start of the next production session.
· Ensure that environmental monitoring schedules comply following SOPs.
· Prepare a wide range of complex aseptic products with the use of syringes, needles and other consumables with a high level of accuracy utilising appropriate techniques.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ level 2 Pharmacy Services qualification.
Desirable criteria
- Undertaken primary level training for aseptic personnel / ‘Fundamentals of Aseptics’
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Awareness of the range of duties involved in the post
- Knowledge of ‘GMP’ requirements in aseptic services
- Significant previous experience in Hospital Pharmacy.
- Experience of working with computer systems.
Desirable criteria
- Experience in aseptic services
- Knowledge of stock control systems with stock control and rotation experience.
Skills
Essential criteria
- Good verbal and written communication skills including face to face and using telephones
- Ability to talk to patients, staff and other health professionals and to be able to deal with routine enquiries.
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently with good attention to detail.
- Good administration skills including record-keeping
