We are excited to invite applications for the position of Clinical Educator for Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy services. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist to join the team. The successful applicant will be pivotal in the training, development and support of a range of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy staff, with a focus on apprentice and newly qualified graduates. 

You must be highly motivated, well-organised, have excellent communication skills, be able to inspire individuals and have a range of senior experience across inpatient services within the NHS in an acute setting. The post holder will be expected to deliver clinical skills training, including on the job training within their scope of practice. 

We are committed to CPD and will work with you to further your skills and experience. The successful candidate may be supported to complete a PG Cert Teaching and Learning in Clinical Practice (September2024 intake).

• To assess quality in a range of practice learning environments.
• To determine interventions to sustain, deliver and enhance practice education
• To support and facilitate the development of learners, assessors and supervisors.
• Provide supervision and support structures for learners, supervisors and assessors
• Co-ordinate and provide on-site support to pre-registration educational input and developmental activities for pre-registration learners .
• Develops, co-ordinates and implements education programmes with providers.
• To have responsibility for the facilitation and/or delivery (within scope of registration) of supporting pre-registration learners and learners transitioning onto the HCPC Register.

The Secretary of State has approved the partnership between St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals and Southport & Ormskirk Hospitals.

From 1st July we have come together as a single organisation under the name Mersey & West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

1. To coordinate and facilitate learner placements in area of responsibility

2. Lead on the structure design and delivery of inter-professional training and development opportunities in practice for learners, practice supervisors and assessors within the organisation.

3. Work in partnership with the HEI’s in the planning delivery and review of development programmes for practice supervisors and assessors in order to meet the learning needs of different professional groups ensuring that the facilitation of inter-professional learning outcomes is included.

4. Identify opportunities where multi-professional supervision can be facilitated in practice as a foundation for inter-professional learning to take place

5. Produce and maintain a portfolio of education in practice activity within service areas i.e. structured inter-professional learning activities and teaching packages.

6. Lead on the development, implementation and review of education in designated practice learning environment in line with policy.

7. Contribute to the development of policy to improve clinical practice

8. To develop and support practice supervisors and assessors in decisions relating to the learner experience including the achievement of learning outcomes, competence and fitness for practice

9. Ensure a range of communication styles including motivational and negotiation are used appropriately to facilitate the exchange of information between internal and external partners

10.To act as an expert resource/champion of inter-professional learning in the clinical environment

11.Continuously monitor practice learning activities and outcomes against quality assurance standards, learner outcomes, providing reflection and support to ensure ongoing enhancement of the learning experience

12.Assess and benchmark clinical and other practice educational environments within own area of responsibility and key external partners in decisions relating to learner placements

13. Within scope of role, plan, organise and deliver a range of complex education and training to groups and individuals

14.Collaborate with key external partners in the planning and organisation of learners and the training/education requirements working closely with departmental managers to facilitate this.

15. Ensure safe and effective use of education resources and equipment.

16.Utilise IT systems and software packages within role.

17. Undertake research and development relevant to education in practice in the clinical learning area.

18.Develop and maintain up to date and accurate records and live registers of supervisors and assessors in the designated clinical area.

19.Provide best practice advice in the clinical setting for assessors and supervisors and other staff groups in relation to education and practice

20.Maintain own professional knowledge and clinical competencies to enable and enhance delivery of education and training

21.To maintain continuous professional development to maintain registration and revalidation.

Experience
