An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Secretary to join the administration team that supports Later Life & Memory Service (LLAMS) based at Harry Blackman House. St Helens The successful candidate will also be required, on an adhoc basis, to provide medical secretary support to Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) team, Recovery Team and Routine Recovery Team.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Later Life & Memory Service team based in Harry Blackman House and will work closely with our current medical secretary.
Duties will include:
- To provide flexible administrative and clerical cover to support the needs of the service
- To provide an efficient audio, copy typing and word processing service. Processing all in a timely, accurate and quality manner
- Take comprehensive minutes for Team meetings and clinical consultation, such as Multi Disciplinary Meetings (MDT's).
- Arrange internal and external meetings/visits, which may include the booking of venues and hotels.
- Liaise with external agencies including, secondary and tertiary care providers.
- Ensure team is appraised of Consultants annual/study leave
- Provide secretarial support to other teams on an adhoc basis.

- Have great communication and organisational skills;
- Possess a sound understanding of medical terminology
- Have excellent IT skills demonstrating the ability to use Microsoft Office and our clinical IT system (RiO).

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Typing/WP RSA III or equivalent or demonstrable experience
- GCSE English Grade 9-4 or equivalent
- Medical Secretarial qualification/demonstrable experience
Desirable criteria
- NVQ3 Business Administration
- AMSPAR
- Audio typing or equivalent experience
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Use of Microsoft Word / Powerpoint/Excel/Clinical Systems
- Secretarial experience/Experience of working in an office environment
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working within the NHS or related healthcare experience
- Experience of dealing with members of the public
Skills
