This role is vital to the delivery of high-quality safe patient care at Wirral University Teaching Hospital (WUTH), offering a rare opportunity for an inspiring and talented individual to help shape the future of our service.

Main duties of the job
You will be joining a team of 42 consultants and 10 SAS anaesthetists providing elective and emergency perioperative care. We gained Anaesthesia Clinical Services Accreditation (ACSA) in August 2018.
We have two major sites, one at Clatterbridge Hospital providing purely scheduled care, and another at Arrowe Park Hospital which also provides urgent and emergency care.
We have an enthusiastic acute pain team with two consultants and two full time nurse specialists
Our critical care unit has 18 level II & III beds, providing a full range of support for patients in the post-operative period.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full GMC registration and licence to practice.
- Valid certified Advanced Life Support (ALS).
Desirable criteria
- APLS Primary FRCA or equivalent.
Clinical Skills and Training
Essential criteria
- Minimum of 1 year worked in the NHS.
- Successful completion of Core Training in Anaesthesia or equivalent.
- Experience of out of hours cover of ICM and obstetric anaesthesia.
Desirable criteria
- ICM fellowship.
Teaching and Quality Improvement
Essential criteria
- Experience of teaching medical students and junior medical staff.
- Demonstrable commitment to improving patient outcomes.
Desirable criteria
- Teaching Qualification.
Academic
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of the principles of medical research.
- Up to date knowledge of current literature.
- Willingness to engage in research and recruit to clinical trials.
Desirable criteria
- Research experience Publication of research and/or review articles.
Managerial
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of recent NHS guidelines, quality standards and recommendations.
Personal Attributes
Essential criteria
- Caring and empathic attitude. A high standard of written and spoken English.
- Effective communicator with patients, relatives and colleagues in primary, secondary and social care.
- Proven ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and co-operate with medical, nursing and all other healthcare staff
