Job overview

An opportunity has arisen to join the Catering Team at Arrowe Park Hospital.

The main duties will be to assist the Catering team with the patient meal service provision and provide a complete meal time service to patients on the wards. 

This includes transport of food and crockery and utensils, meal time service, washing up and tidying down the areas and supporting colleagues on other wards when required.

Main duties of the job

  • To use equipment provided for catering tasks correctly and competently. To report to managers or supervisors any problems that are experienced with equipment.
  • To maintain a proper and presentable appearance during the performance of catering duties.
  • To maintain a high standard of personal hygiene at all times so that the risk of cross contamination of food and beverages during the performance of catering tasks is minimised.
  • To assist in ensuring that immediate corrective action is taken in the event of emergencies so that the patient nutritional needs are met.
  • To serve prepared food and carry out basic food preparation for patients, staff dining rooms, functions and collecting all items for cleaning in the catering areas.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training

Essential criteria
  • Complete a basic food hygiene course and understand food safety regulations as and when they are changed.
  • Be aware of Health and Safety at work act, COSHH regulations, Food Handling and Preparation regulations, risk of Fire and precautions, Manual Handling policies. Quality systems, employee training, the environment and compliance with National Acts and Regulations
  • Preferred intermediate hygiene certificate.
