Job overview
We are seeking a 12 month fixed term Consultant Radiologist with a Specialist interest in Breast Radiology to work within a cohesive team at Wirral University Teaching Hospital.
Candidates should be able to handle risk and ambiguity comfortably and will be expected bring intellect and insight to leading on complex services.
This role will require an exceptional communicator who will be politically astute and quickly able to develop strong relationships internally and with a wide range of external stakeholders. We are interested in hearing from experienced clinical leaders who share our values and ambition and who are excited by the opportunity to help shape a vibrant health and care economy.
Main duties of the job
Daily roles and responsibilities for this post involve all aspects of screening and symptomatic breast imaging work including Mammography, Ultrasound and MRI
The post holder is required to be an enthusiastic team player, participate in audit, and quality improvement activity to drive the service forward.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice
- FRCR or equivalent qualification
- Is up to date and fit to practise safely; Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT or CESR (CP) - proposed CCT/CESR (CP) date must be within 6 months of interview; CESR or European Community Right
Desirable criteria
- Relevant higher degree
Training
Essential criteria
- Should have completed training in radiology within a recognised training programme
Desirable criteria
- Higher level sub speciality training (see below)
Clinical Experience in Specialty/Subspecialty
Essential criteria
- Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances
- Demonstrable competencies in general radiology across Radiography/Ultrasound/CT and MRI
- Demonstrate evidence of higher level training in Breast Radiology
Research
Essential criteria
- Evidence of the ability to carry out quality improvement work and/or medical research
Communication Skills
Essential criteria
- All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication of medical topics with patients and colleagues
Teaching
Essential criteria
- Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors
Desirable criteria
- Previous attendance on Appraisal Techniques and Small Group Teaching Workshops
Audit
Essential criteria
- Experience of participation in regular clinical audit
Management

- Understanding of current issues in the NHS
