Job overview

A temporary contract opportunity has arisen for an physiotherapy assistant with up to date and relevant experience of supporting the delivery of rehabilitation.

The multidisciplinary Wirral Integrated Respiratory Service supports the management of patients with chronic respiratory disease in the community which includes providing physiotherapy led pulmonary rehabilitation.

This very busy and successful team requires an enthusiastic and motivated individual to provide support for the physiotherapists during the exercise classes. The role also involves administrative duties.

The successful candidate will have NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience and will have a good understanding of patients with chronic respiratory illness.

Main duties of the job

The team is based at Willow House in Clatterbridge Hospital but the successful candidate will be expected to support delivery of the pulmonary rehabilitation classes at a variety of locations across the Wirral.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training

Essential criteria
  • Relevant level 3 NVQ or an equivalent level of experiential knowledge and experience in an appropriate area
  • A minimum of 2 years recent experience in a related health care setting

  • To have the ability to show initiative and manage own workload, but to seek advice when appropriate

  • Have training, knowledge and understanding of a range of appropriate work-related skills including moving and handling, exercise techniques, normal movement, balance, relaxed breathing, spirometry, Oxygen therapy, use of inhaler medications, relaxation etc. in order to undertake designated patient activities safely and effectively
  • To have the ability to work as part of a team or individual.
