An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Urology and Robotic team to support the highest quality of care to our patients, and we want you to join our team!
Main duties of the job
Wirral University Teaching Hospital is seeking to recruit perioperative leader of the future to join the directorate of perioperative medicine leadership team. Our 22 operating theatres are across three sites and deliver a wide variety of specialism to patients of the Wirral Peninsula and beyond.
We are looking to find a motivated, experienced theatre nurse or ODP who wants to develop into the next leader. The Senior Theatre Nurse/ODP will provide visible leadership within the clinical area of responsibility supporting the patient’s perioperative pathway within our Urology and Robotic theatres across both Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge sites.
The potential post holder will report directly to their theatre speciality lead working in close partnership with other leaders in theatres to support efficient, safe and a high quality service to patients.
The post holder will provide strong leadership, and be a visible, credible senior presence.
This post is open to both NMC registered Nurses and HCPC registered Operating Department Practitioners.

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with professional registration (NMC/HCPC registration)
- Post registration qualification in specialists theatre area (Anaesthetics, Surgery, Recovery) or work based experience specific to role requirements
- Healthcare related degree (or working towards)
- Mentorship in clinical practice
- Knowledge of current National and local legislations including NHS operational plans
Desirable criteria
- Advanced Paediatric Life Support or Paediatric life support course (APLS/PLS)
- Advanced Life Support/Immediate Life Support Qualification (ALS/ILS)
- Leadership Qualification (ILM/Degree module/NHS Leadership Academy)
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
- Role specific knowledge of the clinical area (Anaesthetic Support, Surgery & post-operative care)
- Good communication skills
- Ability to lead a team
