Job overview
An opportunity has arisen for two Junior Clinical Fellow vacancies at the Princess of Wales Hospital. The posts will cover General Surgery and Trauma and Orthopaedics on a 6 month rotation for the duration of your appointment.
The post will be required to support the delivery of inpatient and emergency services for the local population and in doing so foster excellent working relationships within and outside the specialist area, including medical, nursing, secretarial and support staff, General Practitioners and Management Teams. The post will be predominantly ward based.

Main duties of the job
This is a permanent position within the Planned Care service Group at the Princess of Wales Hospital, the successful candidate will join a repeating surgical rotation compromising of 6 months in General Surgery and 6 months in Trauma and Orthopaedics. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of innovative surgeons and junior doctors within the Princess of Wales Hospital covering Upper and Lower GI and General Surgery and Trauma and Orthopaedics. Both services currently provide a service in the Princess of Wales Hospital and in the Neath Port Talbot Hospital. The Neath Port Talbot Hospital is part of Swansea Bay UHB (previously known as Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board). The service provided to the Neath Port Talbot is under a Service Level Agreement.
Currently all emergency and major elective work will be undertaken at the Princess of Wales Hospital. All other work (outpatient, diagnostic, theatre) can be undertaken at either site or across the Health Board.
You will participate on the 1:14 joint surgical oncall rota working long days including weekends as well nights on-call covering all surgical specialities..
You will provide advice to clinicians in hospital and primary care, originating either from telephone calls or ward referrals.
In exceptional circumstances it may also be necessary to undertake duties at other locations with the Health Board.
