Job overview

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to work as a Ward Clerk/Receptionist  to be based on Ward 18 which is part of the Care of the Elderly unit , within the Medical Directorate, Princess of Wales Hospital

We aim to provide a high standard of care within our ward and we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, motivated, has a friendly manner and an excellent work ethic.

Good organisational and communication skills are essential as well as a flexible approach to work. The successful candidate will have ideally have previous office and front of house experience, ideally in a similar role within the NHS, Social Care or other health related environment.  A good general education,  3 GCSEs or equivalent, are required.  Knowledge of Health Board IT systems  would be desirable although full training will be given.  

The successful candidate will be able to work in a busy environment and have a sensitive, caring and non-judgmental attitude towards others.  They must also be flexible in their role and will be expected to assist with discharge planning.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The ward clerk will provide an efficient clerical service to support the smooth running of day to day operational issues within the ward environment.  The ward clerk will work as part of a busy team providing professional reception duties and clerical support to  ward 18, Princess of Wales Hospital  and be expected to liaise in a professional manner with patients, visitors, colleagues, and other agencies and undertake a wide spectrum of duties within the confines of the role.
