Job overview

  •  To ensure the delivery of high quality, safe and effective services in line with national and locally agreed standards.

Main duties of the job

Contribute to and support effective communication across the Care Group.

Develop and maintain effective systems of communication within the University Health Board and Local Authorities (where applicable), ensuring information and data reporting requirements are updated and available as requested.

Represent the Directorate at key meetings and forums within and outside of the University Health Board, and will feedback to the Directorate Management Team relevant information that is at times complex and sensitive.

Provide effective leadership to develop and build strong networks and relationships.

Be responsible for ensuring team members are briefed on changes within the service and providing feedback on clinical governance and performance issues to inform practice and service development.

Work with Clinical Leads to identify and assist in the development of forward thinking health and social care administrative procedures to support care pathways.

Manage complex and sensitive information effectively demonstrating excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.

Provide clear communication through chairing regular Team Leader meetings in order to support effective communication.

Use leadership and motivational skills to manage Operational Support Managers, and provide direct input into the line management of the administration and clerical staff across all sites.

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Degree Level in relevant subject, plus Master’s Degree in relevant subject or possess equivalent skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Management Qualification or appropriate experience in a management role within the NHS.
  • Experience of performance management reporting within an NHS/Social Service environment and delivering targets within strict timescales.
  • Experience of translating complex information and presenting in a range of formats.
Desirable criteria
  • Project Management qualification e.g. PRINCE2.
  • Significant expertise in Service administration.
  • Knowledge of Myrddin/WPAS/WCCIS/FACE IT systems

  • Able to prioritise, solve problems and make decisions effectively but who can also delegate to others as appropriate. Excellent leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of partners.
  • Ability to lead a team and foster effective team working across services and organisations.

  • Ability to influence, negotiate with, and motivate senior managers and clinicians to assist in the development of forward thinking and joint working.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of targets and waiting lists.
  • Welsh Speaker (Level 1) or willingness to work towards achieving this level.
