Job overview
An opportunity has arisen to work as part of the Specialist Palliative Care Occupational Therapy Team in Bridgend.
As part of this team you will be supporting the registered Occupational Therapist in the delivery of Occupational Therapy rehabilitation to palliative care patients. You will be working with individuals with a palliative diagnosis both in their home and in an inpatient setting. You will be undertaking specific clinical and administrative tasks and implement intervention programmes as delegated by the registered Occupational Therapist.
Although the hours of the post are Wednesday to Friday 9.00am - 16;15, there is flexibility in how these hours can be worked on appointment.
Main duties of the job
As part of the Occupational Therapy Team you will deliver a patient centred approach to promote the independence, health, wellbeing and safety of individuals in the hospital, home or community settings.
You will be working with patients on a 1-1 and group basis as delegated by the Occupational Therapist. You will be required to have effective communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with patients, nursing , medical and other health professionals.
As part of your intervention, you will undertake assessments in the home to enable people to maximise their independence in the community, prescribing equipment and recommending alternative techniques as indicated.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Evidence of good general education, English/Mathematics GCSE or equivalent qualification NVQ level 3
- Understanding of Physical health conditions and rehabilitation related issues .
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of Occupational Therapy.
- Expected to achieve competency based training within a two year period.
Experience
