Deputy Ward Manager - Specialist Palliative Care Unit,
We are looking for a talented and motivated nurse to join our team to fulfil the role of Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager/Clinical Lead on our busy Specialist Palliative Care Unit. We are looking for someone with excellent clinical experience and a keen interest in palliative care. Experience within leadership and management would be desirable.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for providing professional support to the ward manager in the day-to-day management of the ward. They will be working with people with multiple health/palliative needs that are often complex. You will be responsible for providing effective leadership whilst fulfilling your clinical role and for the delegation of tasks to the appropriately skilled staff members ensuring that an efficient and effective service is delivered.
You will be expected to support the ward manager and deputize in the manager's absence. You will need to be up to date with all mandatory training requirements and be able to show evidence of your continued professional development.
You must show awareness of patient confidentiality at all times and possess the appropriate IT skills to use software systems
You must show awareness of the Mental Capacity Act and other legislation related to the protection of vulnerable adults and follow correct procedures in your duty to Safeguard Adults.
You will attend multidisciplinary meetings and feedback to team. Demonstrate knowledge of Nursing Assessments/DST and the implications.
Assist Ward Manager with implementation of health board polices/guidelines and procedures within nursing team.
Support ward manager with quality improvement and action planning. Support ward manager with line management responsibilities within team.
