Job overview
We are looking for friendly, approachable individual to contribute to the provision of health care to patients; providing a comprehensive and confidential clerical support in relation to attendances and admissions within ward 9, working as a ward clerk / receptionist within the surgical ward 9 team.

Main duties of the job
The Post Holder will be required to perform the full range of duties outlined in the job description. Principal Duties include:
To ensure all patients are admitted, transferred and discharged correctly on the WPAS system.
Ensure all paper based record keeping is maintained in accordance with departmental requirements.
Up-date clinical portal with regards to patients’ movement within the service and those discharged or transferred to other wards/hospitals in an accurate and timely manner.
To input and extract data as required.
To undertake full clerical duties following office procedures to ensure the smooth running of ward 9. This will include filing, scanning, photocopying, retrieving hospital notes, faxing.
Be able to undertake the ward clerk duties i.e. amalgamation of hospital notes, filing, liaising with Consultants and their secretaries etc.

Essential criteria
- Good standard of Education (At least 5 GCSEs ‘C’ grade or above)
Desirable criteria
- NVQ 2 in Administration NVQ 2 or Customer Service
- Knowledge of the importance of confidentiality and data protection
- Understanding the importance of medical records
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous clerical/ administrative experience
- Working with the public
- Working in a busy environment
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience within NHS
- Experience of using NHS systems, e.g. WPAS

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
