Job overview

Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB  is looking for an enthusiastic and committed School Nurse to promote the health and well being of school aged children. We are looking for a SCPHN School Nurse to work 30 hours per week, all year round, within the Taff area.

We are looking for a qualified SCPHN School Nurse with strong skills in clinical leadership and in depth knowledge of the Welsh Public Health agenda. The successful candidate should be committed to team working and possess excellent interpersonal skills and will form an integral part of a skill mixed team of School Nurses, Community Nursery Nurses and administrative assistants. The School Nursing team works with Children, young people and families to identify relevant health needs and ensure these are addressed in line with the Welsh Government Framework for School Nursing.

The post holder will work within their allocated area to assess the health needs of individual children and the school population as a whole. They will also support other geographical areas within their team where need arises. They will proactively address factors affecting health to ensure that children and young people achieve the best possible outcomes and will work with vulnerable children and families to reduce the risks of social exclusion and health inequalities.

 The successful candidates must have:

·         Specialist Community Public Health Nurse – School Nursing qualification

·         Evidence of post registration development and training

·       Work in partnership with members of the primary health care team and voluntary and statutory organisations.

·       Participate in the delivery of evidence based care.

·       Ensuring consistency in the quality of care provided.

·       To increase the knowledge and skills of parents enabling them to identify and empowering them to appropriately meet the needs of their children and young people

·       To support the team leader in delivering services to a defined area within a locality
