Job overview

This is a training and development role under Annex 21 of the Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions. The Highly Specialist CAMHS Dietitian – Eating Disorders will be required to undertake up to a 14 month training programme/competency framework upon commencement of this role, with an aim to obtain the relevant training and work experience to fully meet this job description.

Annex 21 remuneration applies.

Completion of the training programme/competency framework is a requirement of the contract of employment.

During this training period, salary will be paid in accordance with Annex 21 of the Terms and Conditions as follows:

  • Months 1 - 12 of the training period will be paid at 70% of the top of Band 7 pay scale, and
  • Months 13 - 14 of the training period will be paid at 75% of the top of Band 7 pay scale.

Upon successful completion of the training programme/competency framework, even if sooner than the 14 month allocated timeframe, the post holder will automatically move to the bottom of Band 7 as they will then meet the full KSF outline of this role and be expected to undertake all duties within this Job Description as indicated.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will lead a team of professionals to deliver a specialist service to children and young people presenting with eating disorder symptoms within the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) locality. In addition to leading the service, the post holder will also function as an autonomous clinical practitioner, providing comprehensive eating disorder assessments and specialised treatment plans.

Qualifications/Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Annex 21 Will be required to undertake up to a 14 month training programme/competency framework upon commencement of this role as indicated in the Job Summary. During this training period, salary will be paid in accordance with Annex 21 of the Terms and Conditions. Fully Qualified BSc. Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent. Evidence of clinical supervision. Health and Care Professions Council registration (HCPC). Evidence of professional development. Relevant post registration training. Understanding of professional ethics and their application in practice. Specialist clinical knowledge of Eating Disorders and Mental Health. MSc or its equivalent level of knowledge and advanced postgraduate training/ experience in specialist clinical dietetics. Knowledge of audit and research and its application to acute nutrition support. Knowledge of the requirements of clinical governance. Knowledge of Health Issues affecting the local population and strategies in place to support improvement in these areas. Knowledge of health & safety, and clinical governance.
Desirable criteria
  • Student clinical educator’s course. Post-registration behaviour change training. Knowledge of paediatric / adolescent nutritional requirements. Awareness and knowledge of safeguarding including its implementation. Knowledge, understanding and implementation of MEED guidance. Understanding of relevant legislation (including but not limited to Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act etc. Awareness of Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice. Evidence of or qualification in research and audit.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Clinical experience of working with Mental health and Eating Disorder clients at a senior level. Significant experience of working with a broad range of patients across a variety of clinical settings. Demonstrates evidence based specialist clinical knowledge. Experience of working as part of a clinical team to deliver patient and organisational objectives. Experience of conducting clinical audit and or research. Experience of clinical supervision of students and junior staff. Experience of organising and implementing training programmes for staff, patients and students. Practical experience of human resource management, supervision and mentoring. Practical experience of lecturing/teaching/ presentations to large groups or at conferences.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in operational management/Leadership. Experience of CAMHS/ Paediatrics.
