Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 1,2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the  living wage of £12 per hour - £23,465 per annum. This temporary top up will be in place until  the annual pay uplift for 2024/25 is confirmed

Job overview

  • The Directorate of Pathology provides a clinically led and comprehensive pathology service to hospital clinicians and primary care throughout Gwent and South Powys serving a catchment population of approximately 600,000. 
    The service supports the diagnosis, prognosis, and monitoring of disease and the efficacy of treatment via the provision of analytical tests of a high scientific quality with a timely turnaround time.
    In the Blood science department we process >6000 samples a day and have a large team of over 100 staff.
    We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic Business Support Officer to join our progressive and dynamic team. The post holder will provide a confidential, comprehensive, and efficient administrative service to the Blood Science senior management team within ABUHB.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicants’ duties will include:

 

·         Administration support for the management of invoices, ensuring invoices are processed and completed to comply with financial requirements.

·         Maintaining and creating call off orders.

·         Organise meetings, arrange venues, keeping accurate records and distribution of agenda's & minutes. 

·       Support the management of laboratory assets 

  • Completion of Audits
  •  Works and estates requests
  •  Checking staff training compliance
  • Booking courses and completing budget transfers

Experience using NHS applications such as Oracle, Q-pulse, ESR and Healthroster will be advantageous.

The post will be based at the Grange University Hospital, but you may be required to work on other HB sites.  Excellent communication, organisational and IT skills are essential.

Qualifications/Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of secretarial and administrative procedures and systems, acquired through training and experience to Diploma level
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft package
  • Typing RSA II/III or equivalent word processing/Keyboarding skills
Desirable criteria
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of NHS information systems such as ESR

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable and strong experience of secretarial work, managing a busy workload.
  • Knowledge of using spreadsheets / databases/Microsoft office
  • Proven organisational ability
  • Previous office / laboratory experience
