Job overview

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB) has a large and complex ICT service that underpins the delivery of digital health care. ICT supports around 14,000 users and over 200 services across more than 120 sites. The adoption and expectations placed upon digital healthcare are expected to grow substantially over the next 5 years as the health board embraces mobility both in primary and secondary care settings.

Reporting to the ICT System Team Leader, the post holder will be part of a team that supports the ICT infrastructure of the Health Board, which comprises over one hundred sites, including hospitals, clinics and associated support and administration services.

Main duties of the job

·          The post holder will be required to function effectively in a busy customer focused and technically challenging environment within ICT Services.
·          The post holder will work as part of the Infrastructure Team within ICT Services and will undertake the technical tasks required in providing a comprehensive systems support service to the Health Board.
·          The post holder will be involved in project and technical support.
·          This is a cross-functional unit where all members participate in all-operational aspects of the team. Team members are empowered to provide a level of service that will ensure fulfilment of the terms and conditions of the Service Level Agreement for systems support services between ICT Services and its customers.
·          There may be a requirement, at times, to work outside of standard working hours and/or on an on-call basis

The post holder will be required to develop and maintain working relationships with:-

·         ICT Services staff at all levels
·         Health Board staff at all levels including: members of the Informatics department, Facilities Management Contact Centre Staff, Works and Estates Project Officers
·         NWIS and colleagues within the Health Board and counterparts throughout Wales Suppliers
·         External support organisations
·         Other organisations e.g. WAG, Social Services etc.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As a senior member of staff, the post holder will play a large part in maintaining the professional image of ICT Services. Interaction with Health Board staff at all levels will be of the utmost importance, in

·         join on an ongoing basis of out of hour’s on-call escalation rota.

The post holder will be based in Mamhilad, but able to travel to any of the Health Board premises.

·         Staff may be required to work cross speciality as part of a virtual team within the Business Systems services area as required.

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent demonstrable level of experience and knowledge
  • Additional specialist knowledge in relation to Information Technology i.e. MCSE/CCNA or MCP
  • Evidence of Continual Professional Development
Desirable criteria
  • ITIL Intermediate Lifecycle qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Excellent team worker, able to work collaboratively as part of an innovative and agile team, whilst being able to manage personal workloads to meet agreed deadlines
  • Technical and practical knowledge of SQL Server
  • Technical and practical knowledge of Microsoft systems support.
  • Technical and practical knowledge of UNIX systems.
  • Technical and practical knowledge of Servers and associated infrastructure support systems for large corporate environments
  • Experience of project management of technical systems projects or technical sections of major systems projects
  • Experience of using a major call management / helpdesk application management.
  • Working in an ITIL structured ICT department
  • Maintaining technical documentation

  • Experience of ICT service provision in a health care setting
  • Wide ranging experience of ICT and service management principles
