Job overview

The Radiology Directorate in ABUHB is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, committed individual to join our team as a full time Band 6 CT/MRI Radiographer.  Applications are welcome from HCPC registered Radiographers, with significant radiography experience. 

The department at The Grange University Hospital consists of 2 Canon Aquilion One Prism CT scanners and a Siemens Sola 1.5T MRI providing a 24-hour service, 7 days a week.

Senior radiographers are expected to provide clinical excellence and assist in managing the day-to-day organisation, providing effective and efficient leadership. It is essential that you are a good communicator and team player capable of carrying out CT/MRI examinations. You will also be expected to demonstrate evidence of commitment to CPD and to participate in departmental CPD sessions both online and practically.

This friendly department provides an environment for Radiographers looking to develop and build on their diagnostic skill. ABUHB hosts undergraduate radiography students on placement from Cardiff University. You will be expected to be involved in their training and supervision, whilst supporting the wider team.  All candidates must be enthusiastic about teaching and supporting learners in the clinical environment. 

Following an induction period, participation in the 12-hour shift system will be expected. Rotation to other CT/MRI departments with the Health Board may be required.

Training posts under Annex 21 will be considered.

Main duties of the job

The duties of this post includes,

  • To supervise, co-ordinate and participate in the provision of the Radiology CT/MRI service
  • To participate in the CT/MRI service shift rota as required.
  • To be responsible for ensuring the provision of high quality images in an efficient, professional and caring manner. 
  • To support the Radiology CT/MRI Lead in the delivery of the service. 
  • To have and maintain an in depth knowledge of current radiographic techniques and equipment.
  • To carry out intravenous cannulations and injections as required by the department after the appropriate training.
  • To communicate effectively with patients and all grades of staff to give technical and professional advice as required.
  • To make an ongoing contribution to the education of others and demonstrate a teaching and advisory role to qualified colleagues.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
