Surgical Assessment Unit

An exciting opportunity has arisen for  Band 5 Registered Nurses in the Surgical Assessment Unit at The Grange University Hospital.  We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable and motivated individuals with a passion for providing high quality patient care.

The unit is a busy admissions area which cares for patients needing Surgical Assessment and possible admission into hospital. Specialities can include, General Surgery, Trauma and Orthopaedic, ENT and Max Fax. 

The successful candidates need to be able to work in an acute, high pressured environment showing good communication and assessment skills. A caring flexible attitude is required with the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team and a commitment to drive the service forward.

We care for our patients 7 days a week, 24 hours a day and can consider a number working patterns to support work life balance of our staff. Hours of work could include twilight shifts and school hours. A degree of flexibility would be required to meet the needs of the service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Applicants must have full NMC Registration 

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organisational/leadership skills, as well as being reliable and hard working.

Commitment to personal development and a keen interest in the progression of the profession within surgical services is essential.

Comply with NMC Professional Registration and keep up to date with current nursing practices

Undertake nursing assessment and evaluation to enable development of appropriate plans of care based on the needs of the individual

Be proficient in the delivery of care to patients

Ensure safe administration of drugs in accordance with NMC policies

Carry out nursing procedures and techniques in accordance with agreed policies and standards

Undertake regular mandatory training
