Job overview

We are looking for enthusiastic and self-motivated nurses/ODP with relevant clinical skills and qualities to join us working across our Royal Gwent Hospital and Grange University Hospitals sites.  It is not necessary to have any previous experience as full training will be provided.  This presents a great opportunity for nurses who are interested in specialising and taking their career in a new direction.  We are currently working towards JAG accreditation, which is the gold standard awarded to organisations providing the highest quality gastrointestinal endoscopy services – so if you join us you can be confident you will be part of something excellent.

Successful applicants will have the ability to think and act creatively in a stimulating and challenging environment.  You will be expected to work as part of a close knit team, supporting your colleagues, Deputy & Clinical Band 6 Nurses and the Unit Manager with the day to day running of the unit.  You will also be required to provide cross site cover between the endoscopy units in the Royal Gwent hospital and the Grange University hospital.  This includes working over a 7 day rota and providing support for on 24 hours call services.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for enthusiastic, dedicated and highly motivated Registered Nurses who have the ability to work both on their own initiative as well as within a team and who are interested in developing their own clinical practice and skills.

We are able to provide structured training, mentorship and support, offering excellent development opportunities to gain experience and clinical knowledge to meet the Welsh Endoscopy incorporating JETS e-portfolio and Aneurin Bevan University Health Board competencies.   Education is strongly supported and you will be encouraged to attend relevant courses and training conferences to support your continual professional development whilst ensuring a high standard of patient care delivery, to include the decontamination of endoscopes.

This is an exciting time for Endoscopy services within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, with an additional theatre at The Grange University Hospital near Cwmbran, which opened in 2020 and additional four planned theatres here at the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport.
