Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person to join the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board Pharmacy team at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr. If you are someone with a with a passion for providing an excellent service, we would love you to join our team as a band 3 Pharmacy Assistant.

We are looking for an individual who is conscientious and adaptable with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. To be eligible you must be enthusiastic, self-motivated and hardworking and should have a good standard of general education.  Accuracy, attention to detail and computer literacy are essential.

Development opportunities will be in line with the skills required for the pharmacy assistant role and for the advancement of the service.  You will work closely with and be supervised by the senior pharmacy technician, to continue your development in pharmacy services and career progression. Full training will be provided for the successful candidate to complete an NVQ level 2 or equivalent in pharmacy services.

Main duties of the job

This is an opportunity to gain experience in all areas of pharmacy and be part of the team working within the pharmacy stores, dispensary and wards. The role includes the following responsibilities:

Carrying out the accurate dispensing and distribution of pharmaceuticals to patients, wards, departments, hospitals and clinics served by Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

Accurate distribution of stock pharmaceuticals, receipt of new stock into the department, the assembly of emergency kits, the preparation of pharmaceuticals and the accurate supply of basic non pharmaceutical information to clients.

Use of the pharmacy and other computer systems in order to carry out all tasks in an accurate and efficient manner.

Assisting in the delivery of a near patient medicines management service to in-patients admitted to wards on ABUHB, hospital sites.
