Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a small unique team of Children's Home Based Respite carers based at the James Paget Hospital.

Working within the family home we offer flexible respite to children with complex needs living  within the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area

We are seeking individuals who have experience of working with children/young persons within a variety of settings and those with experience of complex needs would be beneficial but not essential.

Bespoke training will be provided to you for the needs of any children receiving the respite care

You will be working independently whilst giving 1;1 respite care under the guidance of a senior health care professional.

The working day is flexible and it is arranged around the needs of child and family whilst meeting the needs of the service

Main duties of the job

·       To provide respite sessions at short notice (emergency/additional session) to families as requested by the Senior Sister

·       Record accurate documentation for each child or young person and maintain documentation within the home.

·       Return all documentation to the Senior Sister as requested for review and upon completion of a care package.

·       Undertake any additional training, assessment and competency that the CCNT team/Senior Sister has identified, using a risk assessment, as required to provide optimum care for each family’s plan of care within the home.   

·       Attend clinical supervision sessions planned by CCNT team/Senior Sister and with other respite carers

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 childcare or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Complex Need course/qualification

Experience and knowledge
