Vacancies:

To respond using emergency driving skills and manage emergency calls/incidents as allocated including emergencies, urgent calls, inter-hospital transfers and other allocated operational details commensurate with their role and responsibilities.

The Clinical Supervisor will provide practice education, support and coaching for a group of clinical staff.

The Clinical Supervisor will support the breadth of clinical staff including those that are post-registration or qualification. 

The role will allow for appraisal of clinical practice and will focus on supporting colleagues to enhance their patient care approaches. 

Main duties of the job

The postholder is required to comply fully with Trust operational arrangements and clinical guidelines and procedures, to respond promptly to instructions from dispatch and senior staff.

Work autonomously as an independent health care practitioner, guided by precedent and clearly defined operating guidelines, procedures, protocols and code of conduct.

To provide supervision of staff influencing their development and guiding them through clinical procedures.

Participate in clinical supervision and development of other less qualified, or less experienced clinical staff assisting in their clinical development and facilitating their continuing professional development.

To ensure they maintain current and effective registration with the Health and Care Professions Council with particular reference to the Standards of Proficiency for Paramedics and Conduct, Performance and Ethics.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Paramedic registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (or superseding body) or Nurse registered with NMC or equivalent. Must be outside of any preceptorship phase
  • Qualified C1 and IHCD Emergency Driving (D2) or superseding award
  • Have successfully completed the EEAST mentorship qualification or external practice educator qualification
Desirable criteria
  • To have a CAVA or equivalent assessor qualification
  • Hold qualifications in teaching or learning (PTTLS or equivalent)

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Established knowledge of practice education and practice based mentorship
  • Experience of undertaking clinical mentorship across a range of colleagues
  • successful completion of newly qualified period of practice
Desirable criteria
  • experience of facilitating structured clinical feedback
