Job overview

Under limited direction and in line with best practise and the National Cleaning Standards, co-ordinate and supervise the provision of a cost effective, high quality Domestic service; supporting the achievements of the associated Trust and Departmental objectives.  Specifically responsible for visiting and monitoring all areas of the hospital to ensure a clean and safe environment is maintained in order to support the delivery of high quality patient care. 

 

The post holder will provide departmental leadership and will motivate the team in order to promote team work across all areas/shift patterns associated within the Domestic Services Department; ensuring an efficient and supportive service to all end users.

 

 

 

Main duties of the job

To be specifically responsible for the daily supervision and monitoring of the Domestic Services team and the department’s service delivery. Working without direct line management; take responsibility for prioritising own work load, which can be unpredictable, and delegate tasks to the team in conjunction with specific deadlines and the needs of the service.  Effectively use initiative to facilitate an efficient service; assuming accountability for the decisions made, within the remit of the role, and action taken as a result.

  • General standard of education with good literacy skills.
  • ILM Supervisory Qualification or equivalent
  • Desire and ability to develop new skills & approaches.
  • Computer literate; including Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Basic food hygiene certificate

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working within a cleaning environment.
  • Experience of managing own time and resources
  • Experience of working as part of a team.
