NNUH is currently the busiest Trauma Unit in the East of England caring for almost 850 trauma patients annually many with complex care needs. We are enhancing our urgent and emergency care specialist services for patients with significant injuries as a result of trauma and have an ambition to become a Major Trauma Centre.

We have an excellent opportunity for committed, dedicated, and enthusiastic practitioners to join our team within the Emergency & Obstetric Theatres at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. 

We are looking to recruit appropriately trained practitioners, with existing relevant skills and experience within the perioperative setting. We will also consider applications from newly qualified practitioners. You will be motivated, a great team player and be confident in your abilities. The ideal applicants will be able to quickly assimilate into a large, cohesive team. Personal development is encouraged and supported with training opportunities, mandatory training and appraisals.

The Emergency Theatres at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital provide a highly varied and dynamic care environment for patients requiring urgent and emergency interventions from a large range of surgical specialities including; General, Urology/Gynae, Vascular, Paediatrics, Plastics, Thoracics, Shared Airway, ENT, Maxillofacial, and Obstetrics. As a theatre practitioner you will be expected to undertake the relevant perioperative role assigned to you on a day-by-day basis.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will be provided with a rotation across all relevant specialties within the department upon commencement of employment to ensure skill levels are adequate to perform independently within an NCEPOD emergency theatre environment during normal working hours, and out of hours periods.

 

The ideal candidates will work as competent members of the theatre team, supporting the philosophy of multi-skilling and integration of theatre personnel.

 

They will be accountable practitioners, taking every opportunity to sustain and improve knowledge and professional competence in all aspects of peri-operative care.

 

They will support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values of People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence. 

 

Due to the 24 hour service provided by the department You will be required to work fully flexible shifts including nights, weekends and evenings
